Recycled Rides 2012

On Thursday, July 12, 2012, Kendrick Paint and Body presented Tina and Steve Wright with a “Recycled Ride”.  It was the second installment of Kendrick’s Recycled Ride program, where Kendrick presents a refurbished (up to industry and original manufacturer specifications) vehicle to a needy and deserving family/ individual.  As you may remember, Kendrick presented a 2003 Ford Escape to Cheryl Busby and her two children during the summer of 2011.

This summer, Kendrick presented a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 truck to Tina and Steve Wright and their grandson, Nicky.  A panel of three individuals [not affiliated with Kendrick] chose the winners from a more than 500 entries via Facebook and text message.  Joy Batchelor of North Augusta submitted the following entry via Facebook:

“Tina & Steve are the grandparents of Nicky Garris, a 5 yrs old that has had 5 organ transplants and fought/fighting two forms of cancer.  In Dec 2011, Nicky was rushed to the hospital and remained in PICU for 4 months.  During this time, he had to be flown to Miami, and all the while Tina and Steve, who have custody of Nicky, never left his side.  Steve is the only one working in the home and has just been able to return to work. While in Miami, their vehicle was repossessed. With help from others they were able to get it back, but they are struggling to keep the payments current with the financial burden that have had to face.  This is a family who needs a reliable vehicle to transport Nicky to his many doctors appointments.  And not having a car payment would give this family some breathing room to catch up on the many medical bills plus house payments that have gotten so far behind due to Steve and Tina being without income for over 5 months.”

More information on little Nicky can be found here.

Once again, congratulations to Tina and Steve Wright and best wishes to little Nicky!

Kendrick plans a third installment of Recycled Rides for winter 2012/2013. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and website for more details!
