1. Why didn’t my Airbags work or blow out?

It depends on the direction and speed in which your vehicle was hit.   Air bag sensor locations are different on each make and model of vehicle.  Airbags may not engage depending on the force and location of the impact.  Many airbags require a great force of impact directly in the center (or close to center) of the front of the vehicle.

2.  Once my vehicle has been totaled, how much time do I have to collect my belongings from the vehicle?

Each insurance company has different requirements.  You should be notified by either the insurance company or Kendrick Paint and Body shop that your vehicle has been totaled, and you will be notified of a final opportunity to collect your belongings.  Generally, your final opportunity occurs once you have settled with the insurance company and it notifies you that your car is being permanently moved.

3.  Are there any storage fees  once my car has been towed to a Kendrick Paint and Body lot?

A daily storage fee will accrue if a vehicle is towed to Kendrick Paint and Body for any other reason than to have it repaired by Kendrick Paint and Body.  A standard tow fee plus a$20 per day storage fee will be incurred.

5.  Do you use OEM or aftermarket parts, and what is the difference?

We use both aftermarket and OEM parts. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer.  OEM parts are manufactured and ordered directly from the manufacturer of your vehicle.  Aftermarket parts are designed  specifically for vehicles makes and models from a manufacturer other than the original manufacturer of your vehicle.  Aftermarket parts are generally offered at a more competitive price.  The paying insurance company and you make the final decision regarding which type of part to assemble onto the vehicle.

9. Where do I get a claim number?

Claim numbers are issued by your insurance company at the time you report your accident. Jot it down and bring it in with you when you come in to begin the repair process; Kendrick Paint and Body will do the rest.

10. What is a “direct repair” shop?

A direct repair facility is a body shop that works directly with your insurance company as a preferred shop. Body shops earn the right to be in preferred shop programs by meeting certain requirements. These include having certified technicians, using the proper equipment, and most importantly, having a record of satisfied customers. When you use a preferred shop, the repair process is streamlined. A preferred shop actually writes the estimate, orders the parts, and repairs your vehicle without having to wait for an insurance adjuster. Insurance companies constantly monitor their preferred shops to ensure quality repairs.

11. Will the parts be ordered before I drop off my vehicle for repair?

Absolutely. We generally order your vehicle’s parts at the time the estimate is written, and we schedule your vehicle for drop-off a couple of days later. This enables us to provide quicker turnaround time.

12. Can you match the paint color?

Today’s modern factory finishes incorporate multiple layers of highly specialized paints. Kendrick Paint and Body has invested in the finest paint systems available and constantly upgrades its technology and equipment to ensure that each vehicle’s paint matches. We take special pride in our ability to match factory finishes as the final step in the restoration process.

13. Can I request other service work be completed on my vehicle while it is in the body shop?

Yes. Just let your advisor know what other work you would like done so that he can make the necessary arrangements.

14. Will somebody at Kendrick give me a ride home or to work when I drop off my vehicle?

Yes, we would be happy to provide this service to you. We want each customer’s visit to be a positive experience and will work diligently towards that goal.

15. How do I get a rental car?

If you need a rental car, we can help you make the necessary arrangements. Insurance companies will only pay for a rental car if you have that option on your policy. Check your policy and/or call your insurance company to find out if you have rental coverage and what your specific limitations are. We have Enterprise and Hertz rental car facilities onsite.

16. How will I know when my car is ready?

You will be notified by phone when your vehicle is ready to be picked up.  Feel free to call or e-mail your advisor during the repair process if you have questions or concerns.

17. Do I have to pay a deductible?

Your deductible is determined by your insurance policy. If you carry standard collision, you will have to pay your deductible regardless of whether you were at fault. If you carry broad collision and you were not at fault, your insurance company will most likely waive your deductible. Insurance companies determine fault by your account of the accident when you make the claim and by reviewing the accident report filed with the police department. If you aren’t sure about your deductible, you can call your estimator, and he can tell you whether your insurance company has waived your deductible or whether you will be responsible to pay this when you pick up your vehicle. We have information on how to finance your deductible, simply ask your estimator or visit the finance page.

18. To whom do I pay my deductible?

If your deductible is not waived, it will be your responsibility to pay Kendrick Paint and Body when you pick up your vehicle. If you aren’t sure about your deductible, you can call your estimator, and he can tell you whether your insurance company has waived your deductible or whether it will be your responsibility.

19. What forms of payment are accepted?

Visa, MasterCard & Discover. Of course, we accept personal checks and cash.

20. What are “betterment” charges?

Parts that wear out and need replacement with time and use (i.e., tires, batteries, and suspension parts) are commonly subject to betterment charges when they are replaced during the repair process. These betterment charges are determined by your insurance company and are pro-rated.

21.  Am I covered, and how much is this anyway?

Please check with your insurance company to make sure you have coverage.  If you have any questions or need assistance, your estimator may be able to contact your insurance company on your behalf.

The preliminary estimate will provide a rough estimate of the potential charges.  Please keep in mind that additional, hidden damage may be uncovered during tear down and repairs.  If additional damage is found, more charges may be incurred.
